HAMPTON, Va. (September 2, 2026) … The Hampton University women's soccer team will continue a five-match road swing this week with a pair of contests. On Thursday night, they'll visit Dover, Del. to tangle with Delaware State at 5 p.m. Come Sunday night, the road swing hits Farmville, Va. to renew another Big South Conference rivalry with Longwood also at 5 p.m.
The Longwood match will be streamed on ESPN+, while both matches will have live stats with links found above.
ABOUT HAMPTON
- Hampton returns 14 players from last season under first-year head coach Sam Cain.
- The Pirates dropped a 4-0 match at USC Upstate on Sunday.
- Jayda Sutton scored for the Pirates against Howard with 5:30 left as she took a feed from Nylah Jennings and popped it into the net.
- Hampton played its first match in program history against a Power Four school to open the season in a 2-1 loss at Indiana on August 12.
- Delaware State has dropped both matches so far losing 4-0 to Iona and Manhattan 3-0.
- Through two matches, the Hornets have been outshot 42-11, they've faced 20 shots on goal to firing four of their own and have seen their opposition have six corners to two.

ABOUT LONGWOOD (2-3)
- Longwood plays at Richmond on Thursday before hosting the Pirates Sunday.
- Heading into the week, Longwood has wins over American (3-0) and VMI (1-0), while dropping contests to Campbell (2-0), Old Dominion (3-0) and East Tennessee State (2-1).
- Five different players have registered a goal through five matches for the Lancers, while Sarah Olson leads in assists with two.
- Last season, Longwood was 9-7-3 overall and 5-3 in the Big South Conference.
- Longwood scored three times in a 19 minute span of the second half to pull away and defeat Hampton 3-0 on September 10, 2024 in Farmville.
Hampton's opening week slate puts the Pirates in a new spot with first-ever matchups against a Big 10 member and an American Conference member. Wednesday's Indiana contest was also the first time the Pirates faced a Power Four opponent in program history. The Pirates will also face Atlantic 10 member George Mason on September 13 for the first match against a member of the Atlantic 10.
PEACE AND JENNINGS BACK AT IT
Caitlyn Peace and Nylah Jennings, two of the leading scorers from last season, were joined by newcomer Sierra Bartley for the lone Hampton tally against Indiana on August 12. Jennings and Bartley assisted Peace who found the back of the net in the 71st minute in the 2-1 loss to the Hoosiers.
PIRATE POINT LEADERS
Through four games, Nylah Jennings leads in assists with two, while Caitlyn Peace and Jayda Sutton have scored the goals for Hampton.
TWO OF THREE NEWCOMERS TO SLATE
Hampton's opening week matchups against Indiana and Temple, along with a September 13 contest at George Mason provide the first-ever matchups against those opponents.
