Jennings With Late Tally Lifts Soccer Pirates over Delaware State

DOVER, Del. (Sept. 3, 2026) … Hampton earned a hard‑fought 1–0 road victory over Delaware State on Thursday evening at Scott D. Miller Stadium in Dover, powered by a late strike from junior forward Nylah Jennings and a commanding defensive performance that secured the shutout.
The Pirates controlled much of the first half, generating sustained pressure and outshooting the Hornets 10–4. Hampton repeatedly tested DSU goalkeeper Jazmin Bailey, who made seven first‑half saves to keep the match scoreless. Hampton's best early chances came from Evelyn Payne, who placed multiple shots on frame, including one off the woodwork at 32:49. Despite the pressure, the teams entered halftime tied 0–0.
