• The three goals are the most that Hampton has scored in a league match, Big South or CAA, in program history.
• Gositang Motshegwe continued a solid week as she scored twice, including a penalty kick in the last two minutes. She added three assists to lead in the victory at Virginia State on October 14.
• The three assists by Motshegwe is the second time that a Hampton player has recorded at least three assists in a game. It's the first since Savyon Hammond set the school single game mark with four against South Carolina State on August 29, 2021.
• The six assists as a team at Virginia State set a school record for assists in a game. The previous mark was five done twice against South Carolina State on Aug. 29, 2021 and at Virginia State on Sept. 16, 2024.
• Nylah Jennings leads the team in scoring with four goals and four assists for 12 points, while Jayda Sutton has four goals for eight points. With her efforts last week, Motshegwe is now third with two goals and three assists for seven points.

• The Phoenix enter their Senior Day following a 2-0 win over William & Mary on October 18.
• Both goals were scored in the last 15 minutes of the match, and 3:35 apart, on an own goal and a tally from Lauren McCauley.Â

LAST TIME VS. ELON
Visiting Elon scored with just under 15 minutes left to snare a 3-2 win over Hampton in Norfolk on October 23, 2025. Shania Harris pulled Hampton to 2-1 on a first-half penalty kick and Jayda Sutton curled in a corner kick to tie the contest at 68:45.
JENNINGS MOVING UP CAREER CHARTS
With her four goals this season, Nylah Jennings has pulled to within one of the all-time goals scored record in Hampton history. Sydney Jackson holds the record with 12 from 2015-18 while Jennings now has 11. With her goal at Virginia State Wednesday and assist at Campbell Sunday, she holds the career points record with 30. She broke the mark held by Jackson who had 27.
RECORD SETTING BEAT THE BUZZER
Jayda Sutton's blast with five seconds left against South Carolina State on Sept. 30 was the latest in a game that a Pirate has scored in the history of the program. Prior to Sutton's tally, the latest game-winner in Hampton history was in 2017 by Sydney Jackson at 84:24 in a 2-1 win over Mount Olive on Sept. 19, 2017.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN..AND AGAIN
After starting at home against College of Charleston on Oct. 4, the Pirates began a run of six straight matches away from campus as they headed to Stony Brook. Hofstra, Virginia State, Campbell, Elon and Regent to finish out the month of October. They'll play on campus for the first time this season, due to field renovations at Armstrong Stadium, hosting William & Mary for Senior Day on Nov. 1 at noon.
This actually is the second streak of the season with at least five games in a row on the road as after opening the home slate with Temple on Aug. 15, the Pirates faced Howard, USC Upstate, Delaware State, Longwood and George Mason over a three-week span. Hampton played UNCW at home on Sept. 20 to break that run.
LATEST NATIONALLY
According to research, Sutton's buzzer-beater at South Carolina State appears to be the among the latest a game-winning goal has been scored in an NCAA Division I women's soccer match this season. UConn defeated Boston University 2-1 on Aug. 23 with a goal as time expired and Michigan State scored with four seconds left to tie Notre Dame 2-2 on Sept. 3. Miami (Fla.) and Vermont each won a game this year with a second left.
NEXT UP
Hampton will play their final two games of the season in the 757 as they visit Regent for a 2 p.m. kick on October 28 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex then play at Armstrong Stadium for the first time in program history as they celebrate Senior Day with William & Mary on November 1 at noon.
