Pirates Softball Continues Seven Road Game Stint Against Campbell

HAMPTON, Va. (April 8, 2025) … Coach Cat Tarvin's side continues its seven-game road stint against the Campbell Camels. The Camels enter the weekend first in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Standings. This past weekend, Hampton took a game from Towson 12-7. Heading into the final month of the season the Pirates are still in contention to qualify for the CAA tournament. 

ABOUT THE SERIES

The 2024 season was the first season Campbell was a member of the conference for softball. Hampton's two wins over the Camels came before both teams were in the CAA. HU's first win over Campbell came during the 2013 campaign in a 4-3 home victory. The Pirate's most recent win over the Camels happened during the 2022 season on the road in Buies Creek, N.C. 

ABOUT HAMPTON

This past weekend, the Pirates faced the Towson Tigers in a three-game series. Hampton took the second game from Towson 12-7. In the first three innings, Coach Tarvin's squad produced nine runs. Sophomore Kylee Quinn had a superb game for Hampton going 3-for-5 from the plate and recorded a career-high three RBIs. Kylie Hill also finished the game with three hits and had a pair of RBIs. Freshman Leah Maduro tallied her first home run of the 2025 season. Jada Evans made her first start on the mound in nearly a month. Evans pitched the full seven innings and produced five strikeouts. 

Throughout the 2025 season, Hampton has ranked toward the top of the conference in triples. The Pirates have recorded 11 triples which is the fourth most in the CAA. HU is averaging 0.33 triples per game ranking the Pirates 27th in the country. Carmynn Bonner continues to be one of the top offensive players in the conference. The Dayton, Ohio product sits third in the league with a .421 batting average. Bonner also ranks third in the CAA for hits with 48. 

ABOUT CAMPBELL

The Camels in their last time out defeated Coastal Carolina 1-0. While Campbell only recorded two hits, CU drove the winning run in on an error by the Chanticleers. In its previous conference series, the Camels swept Monmouth taking all three games. 

Campbell is coached by Emily Carosone who is in her first season with the program. Prior to arriving at Buies Creek, Coach Carosone spent four seasons as Auburn's associate head coach. During her playing days at Auburn, Carosone was a three-time All-American.

Senior Tyra Parker has been one of the top hitters in the conference. Parker currently sits second in the CAA for batting average with a .424. The Humble, Texas product ranks first in the league for hits amassing 53. Megan Gregory has been the Camel's top arm on the mound with an 8-3 record. The sophomore has tallied 76 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .216 batting average. Gregory's 1.77 ERA leads the conference.
