Academic Support
Class Attendance Policy
Academic Advisors
Just like any other HU student, you have an academic advisor assigned to you by your college/school or department. These professional advisors or faculty help you choose classes each term, make changes in your schedule, and plan your degree program. Your academic advisor will help you set realistic academic and career goals and select courses and experiences that are consistent with those goals.  Any student-athlete who fails to meet with their advisor will not be permitted to register.
Athletic Academic Advisors
Athletic Academic Advisors will monitor degree progress each semester with regards to institutional, conference and NCAA requirements. They will collaborate with departmental advisors for course selection and credit loads for student-athletes. They will meet regularly with students regarding academic matters and will serve as a liaison to faculty on behalf of students when necessary. They will also be the academic recruiting liaison for their respective sports, and they will process transcript evaluations for incoming student-athletes, monitoring initial and continuing eligibility. They will be critical resources as it relates to APR and will provide reports on eligibility projections and anticipated graduation rates (GSR).

Individual Conference
Individual conferences can be scheduled with the academic athletic advisors for student-athletes who need to discuss academic concerns. The academic athletic advisors will consider everything confidential discussed during these conferences, but with the student-athlete’s permission, will feel free to share information with professors, chairs, counselors, coaches, and/or tutors when this sharing is in the best interest of the student-athlete.

Academic Progress Reports
Approximately twice each semester, each of your course instructors receives a Student-Athlete Academic Progress Form. It is a good idea to introduce yourself to your professors at the beginning of the semester. On the Student-Athlete Academic Progress Form, faculty comment on your attendance, grades, and class participation. This information is shared with you and your coaches and is used to track your academic progress throughout the semester.Â
Study Table
All freshmen and transfer students are required to attend and participate in a minimum of six (6) hours of study table and/or tutorial sessions on a weekly basis. Each student-athlete required to attend study table will receive a copy of study table policies and procedures. Failure to comply will result in the loss of athletic participation and possible loss of athletic financial aid.
