HAMPTON, Va. (March 2, 2025) … A 12-2 second half from visiting Mercyhurst helped propel them to a 22-6 win over Hampton in men's lacrosse action on a cold Sunday evening at Armstrong Stadium.
The first quarter saw Mercyhurst score the first four goals before
Jonathan Angel blistered the net with his first goal of the game from a
Zion Garcia feed at 6:45 mark to trail 4-1. The teams traded goals as
Reed Shaw,
Canyon Steverson and Sebastien West found the back of the net for Hampton with West's goal with 3:28 left in the half pulled Hampton to 7-4.
Mercyhurst then went on a four goal spurt as Jeremi Phoenix-Lebebvre, Ryan Mahoney and Ethan Landymore closed the half with goals and Josh Mills put them ahead 11-4 at the 13:36 mark of the third quarter with the first of his four second-half goals.
Angel scored his second marker of the game with 11:22 left to cut the deficit to 11-5. From there, Mercyhurst ripped off the next 10 goals as Sebastien West broke that streak with 6:20 left off a feed from
Elijah Jean-Jacques to make the score 21-6.
West and Angel had two goals each for Hampton, while
Zion Garcia, Jean-Jacques,
Mamadou Meite and
Darius Stanley added assists. Mills, Phoenix-Lefebvre and Landymore paced Mercyhurst (1-4) with four goals apiece.
Hampton (0-5) now hosts Detroit Mercy on Friday at 5 p.m.
