HAMPTON, Va. (March 30, 2024) – The Pirates lacrosse team was defeated by the Delaware Blue Hens on Saturday afternoon in Armstrong Stadium in Hampton, Va.
This was Hampton's second CAA conference home game this season. The final was 21-3.
How It Happened
The Blue Hens ended the first period with a 5-0 lead, despite the Pirates' defense holding them scoreless until the 7:06 mark.
Matt Hunter was the first Pirate to score, at the tail end of the second with 1:42 remaining. This was the Wake Forest, N.C. native's first goal of the season. At the half, Hampton trailed 8-1 but led in saves 9-5.

Jonathan Angel for his first goal of the 2024 campaign.
Mamadou Meite closed out the scoring in the afternoon with an unassisted goal with 4:41 remaining in the fourth. Meite is second on the team in goals with seven.
Bethea finished the day leading the team in ground balls (three). Hampton had 11 different Pirates take shots this afternoon, including 12 on goal. Goalie
David Sadasivam recorded 16 saves which is tied for his second-highest all season.
