A Look at Your Lady Pirates

In Hampton's home tournament the Battle at the Bay, HU went 1-3 picking up a win over Wagner. Emily Kepple has been a key contributor for Lady Pirates on both ends. Currently, Kepple has a team-high .391 batting average and is one of two players to be batting over .300. The Dayton, Ohio native also has caught the second most runners stealing in the nation. She is only one behind UMass Lowell's Morgan Fisher. Carmynn Booner also had a solid tournament recording a hit in every contest. Freshman Taryn Bennet picked up her second win of the season against Wagner. Bennet went the full five innings and only allowed three hits. While the decision went against Emily Workman in the second game against Coppin State, she recorded seven strikeouts.

A Look at the Red Foxes

Marist enters this weekend's tournament with a 2-3 overall record. The Red Foxes opened their season last week at the Abilene Christian Tournament defeating the hosts and Houston Christian. Sophia Recrosio has had a strong start to the 2024 campaign recording five hits in 10 at-bats. Recrosio with a .643 on-base percentage sits 24th in the country. As a team, the Red Foxes have speed on the bases with 18 stolen bases through five games. Both Taylor Anderson and Peyton Pusey lead the team with five. Marist's go-to arm out of the bullpen this season has been graduate senior Kiley Myers. The Latrobe, Pa. native, has pitched a team-high 16.1 innings and struck out 16 batters.

A Look at the Bulldogs

Gardner-Webb is off to a strong start posting a 7-3 record. In its last time out, the Bulldogs defeated Rhode Island at home 7-4. GWU is coached by Bailey Wigness who enters her third season with the program. In her second season at Gardner-Webb, the Bulldogs won 20 games for the first time since the 2020 campaign. Through the early portion of the season, Coach Wigness's squad is one of the better-hitting teams in the Big South. GWU ranks first in doubles (19), slugging percentage (.469), and triples per game (0.40.). Both Andrea Lyon and Araceli Pesqueira are batting over .400. Five of the Bulldogs regulars in the starting lineup currently have a batting average of .300 or more.

A Look at the Lions

After starting out the season 2-1, Lindenwood has dropped seven consecutive contests. Junior outfielder Mya Bethany has been the Lion's top hitter this season. Her best game of the season came against Prairie View A&M going 3-4 from the plate. The St. Louis, Mo. native has seen an increase of .082 to her batting average.
