HAMPTON, VA – The Hampton Lady Pirates brought home a victory on Senior Night, taking down Radford 59-53 Tuesday night.
Nylah Young scored 19 points (9-18 FG) and grabbed nine rebounds in the win Tuesday evening.
Jermany Mapp scored 11 points (5-8 FG) in just 15 minutes off the bench.
Hampton held Radford scoreless through the first two minutes of the game and opened a 15-11 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Lady Pirates had a quick 7-0 run to begin the second quarter, but the Highlanders would come back, with Hampton taking a slim 27-26 lead into halftime.
The third quarter featured four lead changes, but the Lady Pirates began to slip away taking a ten-point lead at the end of the third quarter. The Higlanders would battle back late, but a couple of timely three pointers by
Tia Montagne and
Nas Nigatu helped seal the win.
The Lady Pirates begin their final road trip of the season with the first of two games coming Thursday, February 24 at 6 p.m. against Radford.
