RADFORD, VA - The Hampton Lady Pirates outlast the Radford Highlanders, as they pulled out a 54-51 Thursday night at Radford.

Nylah Young scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win Thursday.
Jermany Mapp (6-13 FG) scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Hampton held Radford to just 10 points in the first quarter, while taking a 15-10 lead in the process. Both offenses began to pick up the pace in the second quarter. Both teams had their highest scoring quarters of the game, 24-18 in favor of Hampton, as they took a 39-28 lead into halftime. The Lady Pirates capitalized off mistakes, scoring 21 points off turnovers.

Although the Highlanders began to make it a close game, it would not be enough, as the Lady Pirates defense fueled them to the win. They held Radford to just six made field goals for the entire second half. Radford was also limited to just 24 percent shooting in the second half, and 34.7 percent for the entire game. The Lady Pirates also dominated the paint, doubling the Highlanders in points in the paint, 36-18.

Hampton will close regular season play as they hit the road Saturday, February 26 to take on the Longwood Lancers at 3 p.m.
