MARTIR TALLIES FOR SOCCER IN LOSS TO WINTHROP

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Maya Martir scored off a rebound in the 53rd minute for Hampton on Sunday in a 4-1 loss to Winthrop in Big South Conference action at Wanner Stadium.
In the second half, the teams found the back of the net twice in 13 seconds. Abbie McCrea connected with D'Essence Burnett at 53:11 to put Winthrop up 2-0. Martir then responded off a rebound to put Hampton on the board at 53:24 trailing 2-1.
McCrea recorded two assists, while four different players scored goals for the guests who outshot Hampton 12-8.
Hampton goes on the road next Saturday to face Gardner-Webb.
