NORFOLK, Va. – Ashley Bates had 10 points, while Charlisa Jenkins had eight and six rebounds as Hampton lost 75-38 to Old Dominion on Friday in day two of the Anne Donovan Classic.

Old Dominion scored the first eight points of the game before a jumper by Bates at the 5:25 mark put Hampton on the board.  After a layup by Amari Young, a triple by Laren VanArsdale got Hampton going on a 7-0 run to trail 10-9 with 2:39 left on a VanArsdale layup.  The Monarchs closed the first quarter scoring the last eight points as an Ajah Wayne free throw with 68 seconds left put the hosts up 18-9.

A MaKayla Timmons jumper kept Hampton at a nine-point deficit trailing 26-17 with 2:24 left in the second, but ODU closed with the last five points to take a 31-17 lead into halftime.  That run continued into the third quarter as ODU scored the first 19 points of the third before a Jenkins jumper with 5:02 left put the Lady Pirates on the board down 50-19.

The Lady Pirates close out the Anne Donovan Classic with a 4:30 pm start against the University of Richmond on Saturday.
