A Hampton graduate, Terris “Tee” Sanders joined the Pirate staff in 2019 as director of operations and player development. He served as manager and an intern for the Pirates basketball team while pursuing his bachelor’s degree.
In his role, he is responsible for player skill development, basketball operations and oversight of the men’s basketball social media.
Sanders previously coached youth basketball, the semiprofessional Binghamton Bulldogs as well as at SUNY Broome County Community College in his hometown of Binghamton, N.Y. He also coached at the Wave Basketball Club in Virginia Beach.
In 2020, he joined the D.R.E.A.M. mentorship fall program. The Lambda D-R-E-A-M is a community-based nonprofit 501 (c)3 national program providing mentoring services to at-risk youth ages 10–21. Lambda D-R-E-A-M has constructed policies and procedures that can be adapted in a school-based setting or community service program.
He also serves as a substitute teacher in Hampton City School District.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Hampton and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sport Administration.
In addition to basketball, Sanders enjoys boxing, hiking, trying new foods and traveling the world with his wife, Winta and his daughter Soliana.
