In his lone season with Bryant & Straton, Graves went 19-11.

Graves earned his degree in sports management in 2007 from Catawba College. While at Catawba, Graves was a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference performer and was named All-Southeast Region as a senior. Catawba advanced to the NCAA II Regionals in three of Graves’ four seasons and he helped the team to conference championships during his sophomore and senior seasons.

Graves became a 1,000-point scorer in his career, currently ranking 22nd all-time with 1,387 points. He stands third all-time with 600 assists (a South Atlantic Conference record) and shares the school mark with 15 assists in one game. Graves produced the second highest assist season as a senior with 203.

He also ranks third all-time in steals.

Graves returned to his alma mater after four years of playing professional basketball, to serve as associate head coach for its men’s basketball program for the 2014-15 season. In 2011, he coached the junior varsity team at Heritage High School in Newport News to a 16-2 mark.

Heritage was also where Graves played his high school basketball, appearing in two state tournaments.

After graduation, Graves played in Germany with the Grevenbroich Elephants and helped the team move from the Regional League to the 2nd Division. He was named All-League both years. Graves also spent a year with the Vermont Frost Heaves of the PBL and most recently was team MVP in 2011-12 with the Virginia True Hope Trailblazers.

Graves, a native of Newport News, Va., has one son, Brian Jr. (6).  He earned his Master's in sports administration from Hampton in May 2018.
