Women's Basketball Ends Regular Season at UNCW and Charleston

HAMPTON, Va. (March 5, 2025) … The Hampton University women's basketball team hits the road for the final conference trip of the regular season starting Thursday night at UNC Wilmington and then ending the regular season at College of Charleston on Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Hampton (7-20, 3-13) comes into the final weekend off a thrilling 68-66 win over Northeastern on Sunday. Le'Asia Foreman's putback with five seconds left gave Hampton a 67-66 lead. Foreman's free throw was rebounded by Diamond Wiggins, who hit one free throw with 1.2 seconds left to give the Pirates the win.

UNCW (13-16, 7-9) lost its last game, 99-63, at Charleston on Sunday afternoon. Taylor Henderson had 17 points, and Ali Zalaya had a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double.

Charleston (21-6, 12-4) visits Campbell on Thursday before hosting Hampton on Saturday. Against UNCW, Taryn Barbot paced four in double figures with a career-high 40 points, and she was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week. Her sister, Taylor, added 16 points and 12 assists.

ABOUT HAMPTON
Hampton hosted UNCW on January 26 and fell 66-50. Aisha Dabo led the Pirates with 16 points and two blocked shots, while CeCe Thomas added eight points, five rebounds, and four assists for Hampton.

Against College of Charleston on February 25, the Pirates lost 70-58 to the Cougars. Hampton trailed 29-28 at halftime and saw the guests use a 19-11 fourth quarter to provide the final margin. Foreman came off the bench with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while Jasha Clinton added a team-high 17 points.

Clinton leads the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game, leads in steals (55), and is third in assists (53). Dabo is next in scoring at 8.0 points per game and third in rebounding at 4.4 per game. Jenae Dublin is averaging 7.2 points and a team-best 5.0 rebounds per game. Foreman is right behind Dublin in rebounding, averaging 4.9 rebounds per game.

Hampton is averaging 57.7 points per game and allowing 67.3. They're hitting .372 from the field, .264 from 3-point range, and .614 from the foul line.

ABOUT UNCW
The Seahawks are paced by Zelaya, who averages 12.4 points and 9.1 rebounds and has a league-best nine double-doubles. Henderson is next with 12 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

As a team, the Seahawks are averaging 64.7 points per game and allowing 66.7. They're hitting .402 from the field, .304 from 3-point range, and .728 from the foul line.

ABOUT COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
The Cougars sit in a tie for second place heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Taryn Barbot leads them in scoring (15.9 ppg), steals (65), and is second in rebounding (7.2 rpg). Taylor joins her in double figures, averaging 12.1 points, and leads in assists with 120. Lara Rokohol is just behind in scoring (9.6 ppg) and leads in rebounding (9.3 rpg).
Charleston is averaging 74.4 points per game and allowing 56.0. They're hitting .400 from the field, .299 from 3-point range, and .699 from the foul line.
