STONY BROOK, N.Y. (Mar. 2, 2024) - The Hampton Pirates fell to the Stony Brook Seawolves with a score of 23-2 on Saturday.

The matchup opened up conference play for Hampton in its second season of competition in the CAA.

How It Happened
Â
The Seawolves opened the game with a heavy offensive attack scoring four goals early in the first seven minutes of action. They would add several late goals in the first period to end the quarter 7-0. The Pirates offense struggled to find a rhythm as the Seawolves pitched a first half shutout and would tack on four more goals to go up 11-0 at the end of the second quarter. Stony Brook would jump out to early scoring efforts with a goal at the 14:12 mark, along with seven more goals to end the period 19-0. The Seawolves would add two more to the scoring department before the Pirates would find the back of the net for the first time with 11:24 left in the fourth after a goal from midfielder
Mamadou Meite giving him his fifth of the season. Stony Brook would put up two more scores before midfielder
Darius Stanley would score the final goal of the game with 3:09 left.

Stanley continued his offensive contributions on Saturday as he now has seven goals in the last three games and nine total on the season. Defenseman
Matt Hunter led the squad in ground balls with four and caused two turnovers along with midfielder

Taylor Whitt forcing two turnovers each.
