HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 16, 2024) – The Pirates lacrosse team is preparing to play the Lafayette Leopards tomorrow in Easton, Pa. at noon, in Fisher Stadium.
This is the second time these two teams will have played each other. The first was back on March 14, 2023, when the Leopards defeated the Pirates 18-9 in Hampton.
So Far This Season
The Pirates fell to Mercer in their first match of the season two weeks ago. Senior Ellison Burt Murray led the teams in goals with three and
Miles Fawcett and
Dillon Bethea each had one. Bethea recorded five ground balls, which was two more than any other teammate. The Pirates goalkeeper,
Dylan Robinson posted a career-high in saves with eight.
Hampton has the second-best penalty kill percentage in the conference at 71 percent.
Scouting the Leopards (0-1)
The Leopards are coached by Pat Myers in his sixth season with the program. He holds a 14-50 record with the team. Lafayette was defeated by Delaware last week, by a score of 14-6.
Peter Lehman and John Mathes both have tallied two goals for the Leopards this season. Out of their six goals against Delaware, five were assisted. Matt Morelli leads the team in groundball with four. The Leopards goalie, Joe Doherty, holds first in the Patriot League in saves per game at 18.
