Greensboro, N.C. (Sept. 23, 2023) The Lady Pirates fell to the North Carolina A&T Aggies in game one this afternoon in three sets (19-25, 10-25, 15-25).

Tyller Williams both achieved career-highs leading Hampton with seven kills each.
Maria Eduarda Rodrigues recorded her third straight-game with double-digit assists and broke her career-high by seven (18).
Rickelle Wescott tallied her ninth ace of the season.

Madison Clark led the Lady Pirates in digs with seven and
Kylah Hunter notched six of her own. Four different Pirates posted a block today and
Cortni Adams had three.

Set 1

The Lady Pirates set the tone on the first point as Adams and Williams blocked an attack to give Hampton a 1-0 lead. A few short runs were put together by both team and three straight points from the Pirates put them within one (6-7). The Aggies stretched the lead to three, but Hampton refused to give up with the score at 17-20. The Aggies rattled off three straight points and put the set away (19-25).

Five straight kills and an attacking error put the second set at a score of 3-3. The Aggies took seven of the next eight and never looked back. The Lady Pirates fended off two points before it ended (10-25).

Set three started with the Lady Pirates taking an early lead at 3-2. The Aggies went on a 7-0 run and led 4-11. Hampton fought back and a kill from Williams, two from Wescott and another by Adams narrowed the score to 8-11. The Aggies pulled away and the final set finished (15-25).
