Box Score Hampton, VA- The Pirates dropped a tough game against the Panthers of High-Point University 25-8.
 
Hampton dips to a 0-8 overall record, 0-3 in conference play. High Point improves to 7-5, 2-1 in conference play.
 
The Panthers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the first minute of action, but sophomore Marcus Greene (Durham, NC) responded for the Pirates recording his first goal of the season to tie the score 1-all early.
 
High-Point outscored the Pirates 9-2 to end the first stanza. Miles Fawcett (Piedmont, CA) and Derian Williams-Sturdivant (Baltimore, MD) each scored unassisted goals for HU to end the quarter. 
 
Ethan Mitchell would score the Pirate's only Point of the second quarter at the 5:32 mark.
 
The Pirates came out in the second half strong defensively, holding High Point scoreless until the final minute of the third quarter. High-Point was able to score a goal to extend their lead to 20-4 going into the last quarter,
 
Melvin Scott III (Baltimore, MD) scored the first goal of the fourth quarter unassisted. Moments later, Andre Myers (Frederick, MD) scored a goal for the Pirates, assisted by Derian Williams-Sturdivant (Baltimore, MD) to give the Pirates two quick points.
 
With 8:25 remaining in the game, Sophomore Andre Mills (Broward County) scored his second goal of the season. Sophomore Steele Downing (Washington, D.C.) scored another goal for HU with just under two minutes remaining in the contest; the Pirates trailed High Point 24-8. 
 
Despite a strong showing in the second half of play, the Pirates could not recover from the 18-4 deficit they endured in the first two quarters. 
 
Pirates' goalie Paxtin Powell (Bradenton, FL) continues to lead the league in saves; tonight, he tallied 18 saves playing just under 52 minutes.
 
The Pirates will be back in action on Sunday, April 17, at noon for Senior Day against Jacksonville University.
