CLINTON, S.C. - Hampton Lady Pirates held off a late Presbyterian College rally and scored a 56-53 road win on Tuesday in a Big South conference match.

Hampton seized early control of the game, shooting 50 percent from the floor in the period, and took a 19-9 lead by the end of the first quarter. After extending their lead to as many as 14 points in the second quarter, the Lady Pirates cruised into halftime with a 30-18 lead.

The Lady Pirates maintained control through the third quarter, coasting into the final frame with an eleven-point lead. In the fourth, Presbyterian would climb back into the game and cut the deficit by as little as two points with 22 seconds remaining in the game. Hampton would close out the game with free-throws, preserving the win.
