HAMPTON, VA – The Hampton Lady Pirates defeated the Furman Paladins 82-53 at the HU Convocation Center on Monday night.
The Lady Pirates were led by
Nylah Young's 19 points on 9-14 shooting. She also added five rebounds, four steals, and two assists on the evening.
Victoria Davis added 13 points and six assists for Hampton.
Hampton started the game on an 8-2 run and would end up building a 10 point lead at 20-10 by the end of the first quarter on 7-14 shooting.
The second quarter saw the Lady Pirates shoot a scorching hot 66.7% on 10-15 shooting. Hampton's defense also turned up the pressure on Furman holding the Paladins to eight points in the period to take a 46-18 lead at the half.
Hampton would control the momentum the rest of the way and come away with a lopsided 29 point win over the Paladins.
The Lady Pirates will next take the court against Campbell in Buies Creek, NC on December 29 at 5 pm.
