RADFORD, Va. –
MaKayla Timmons scored 23 points to lead three in double figures as Hampton dropped a 70-63 decision to Radford on Saturday.
With the loss, Hampton finished in a tie with High Point for third place in the regular season. With High Point defeating Hampton twice, the Lady Pirates will be the fourth-seed for the upcoming Hercules Tires Big South Conference Women's Basketball Tournament. Hampton (18-11) will face fifth-seeded Gardner-Webb at 8pm on Thursday at Campbell.
After holding a 53-47 lead heading into the fourth, Hampton saw Radford open with a 13-2 run to take a 60-55 lead on a free throw by Aiden Rainford. A layup by
Alexsis Johnson with 47 seconds left brought the Lady Pirates to 64-63, but that was the last points for Hampton.
Nylah Young had 15 points and seven rebounds, while
Dlayla Chakolis had season highs of 10 points and four assists to go with six rebounds.
