LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Derian Williams-Sturdivant scored two goals and assisted on two more, while
Pierce Johnson added two goals as Hampton fell 21-5 at Bellarmine on Tuesday afternoon.
Pierce Johnson got Hampton (0-3) on the board at the 8:00 mark with a man-up advantage goal off a feed from Williams-Sturdivant to trail 2-1.
The Pirates then didn't get on the board until the 12:44 mark of the fourth quarter when
Pierce Johnson got his second goal of the game to trail 19-2. That was the first of three Pirate goals in a 5:20 span as Elliott Johnson, III got his third of the year from a Williams-Sturdivant pass at 9:26 to trail 19-3. Williams-Sturdivant tallied his first of the year at 7:24 from a pass by Elliott Johnson as Hampton trailed 19-4.
The final tally for Hampton was by Williams-Sturdivant who blistered the net off a pass by
Lonnie Jones with 4:05 left for a 20-5 margin. Hampton was 8-for-10 in controlling faceoffs in the second half and finished winning 17 of 28 in the match.
The Pirates are now off until February 22 when they visit Mercer.
