HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University softball team split a Thursday doubleheader with visiting Mt. St. Mary's dropping the opener 7-3 and winning the nightcap 5-4.
In game one,
Taylor Warrick and
Brianna Anderson were 2-for-3 each as the Mountaineers put up four runs in the third and two more in the top of the seventh for insurance.
Game two saw Warrick start the game with a home run and was 2-for-3 again this time with
Daniella Milloy as the Lady Pirates used RBI singles from Milloy and
Camille King in the fifth to retake the lead after giving up two in the top of the inning.
Emily Workman earned the win throwing a complete game striking out two and walking two in game two.
Hampton returns to action on Friday with a 2:30 pm game against South Carolina State at home.
