HAMPTON, Va. – After a rain-forced postponement on Friday, Hampton took a pair of games on Saturday in the Pirate-Spartan Classic defeating Drexel 5-2 and Iona 7-3.
In the opener against Drexel,
Daniella Milloy stroked a two-run single in a three-run sixth inning as the Lady Pirates got some insurance runs in a 5-2 win.Â
DaSha Hill scored two runs going 2-for-3 as
Emily Workman earned the win with a complete game allowing eight hits.
The nightcap saw the Lady Pirates put up three in the bottom of the first as two came in as
Brianna Anderson reached on an error and the third on a groundout.Â
After giving up two in the third, Hampton put up a four-spot in the bottom of the fifth as Milloy singled in one,
Kennedy Hickey had a two-run single and the fourth scored on a groundout.
Allie Hotetz earned the win with three strikeouts in the complete-game six-hitter.
Hampton returns to action on Sunday finishing the classic taking on Hofstra at 12:30 and South Carolina State at 2:30.
