HIGH POINT. N.C. – Homestanding High Point jumped out to a 3-0 first half lead and defeated Hampton University 6-2 on Saturday night in Big South Conference women's soccer action.
Hampton scored its most goals in a Big South Conference matchup with its two tallies. Â
Tareya Stokes got the first goal for the Lady Pirates off a feed from
Kennedy Peace at the 50:04 mark as Hampton trailed 3-1.
The second Lady Pirate goal came off the foot of
Anita Pope in the 74
th minute as Hampton cut the deficit to 5-2. High Point outshot Hampton 12-10 in the game as
Maya Andrews made six saves in goal for Hampton.
The Lady Pirates return home on Wednesday to host UNC Asheville at 3 pm.
