The Short Story: Hampton finished off a sweep of five-set victories on Friday, defeating East Carolina to push its winning streak to two. The victory over ECU was the first in program history as the southern Pirates had won the first eight contests in the series.

BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- Megann Delgado posted her second double-double in as many matches on Friday, setting career highs with 21 kills and 15 digs. The transfer posted a team-best .306 hitting percentage as well.
- Lena Reed-Petracek finished with 49 assists, just four off her career high of 53 set against Bethune-Cookman last season.
- Kyndall Nicholas led the squad with seven blocks to go with nine kills and three digs.
- Toya Osuegbu led East Carolina with 14 kills and a .429 hitting percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- East Carolina held a 7-5 lead in the first game, but HU went on a 9-0 run to go ahead 14-7. Delgado and Nicholas had two kills each in the spurt as Sydney Sumner served out the duration.
- Each team posted an early run in the third set to give HU a narrow 16-14 lead. Following an HU timeout, the northern Pirates responded with a 5-1 to pull ahead 21-15.
- Hampton led by just one in the fifth set as well, 7-6, when another 7-1 run finished off the victory. Sasha Saric and Delgado had two kills each while the latter also contributed a service ace in the game-ending run.
WHAT'S NEXT
Hampton will travel to Norfolk State University for a non-conference match Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Pirates are 64-20 all-time against the Spartans with HU winning the previous two.
