HAMPTON, Va. –
Pierce Johnson scored four goals, while
Carter Boone added three more as Hampton outscored visiting Westminster 4-1 in the fourth to take an 11-5 win on Monday at Armstrong Stadium.
Hampton (1-3) never trailed in the contest as Boone scored the first of his three goals with 1:18 left in the opening quarter to lead 3-2. A lead that Hampton would never relinquish.
Boone put his second goal in with 6:34 left in the half to give Hampton a 6-2 advantage. A Titans flurry trimmed the margin to 7-5 with 7:15 left in the game, but Hampton scored the last four goals with Johnson tallying two, Boone with his final one and
Jonathan Napier giving Hampton its first win of the season.
Hampton outshot Westminster 46-19 and held a 39-26 advantage in ground balls. The Pirates forced 28 turnovers, while only committing 14 in the contest.
The Pirates are off now until March 14 when they host Bethany College (WV) at 2 pm at Armstrong Stadium.
