IN BRIEF: The homestanding Chanticleers hit 50% from the floor on the night and held off Hampton 75-66.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hampton held its lone lead of the night on a Kalin Fisher jumper for a 6-5 lead at the 16:13 mark.
- A Jermaine Marrow 3-pointer got Hampton within five at 31-26 with 4:25 left but the hosts went on an 11-2 run to lead 42-28 on a Trevion Brown layup with 44 seconds left in the half.
- Coastal held a 65-48 lead on a dunk by Amidou Bamba with 4:45 remaining, but the Pirates got as close as seven on a layup by Akim Mitchell with 50 seconds left which was as close as they got in the second half.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- Marrow was the leading scorer for Hampton with 24 points and six assists to go with five rebounds.
- Fisher was the leading rebounder with eight to go with seven points.
- Greg Heckstall was next in scoring with nine points.
