HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University women's basketball team takes the first of two southern swings in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action this weekend starting off with a 4 pm tip on Saturday at Savannah State.

ABOUT HAMPTON
Hampton is 13-8 and 7-1 in MEAC action after falling to Maryland Eastern Shore 68-65 on Wednesday night.
Monnazjea Finney-Smith scored 18 points to lead three in double figures for Hampton, while DeJane James added 14 and six assists and
Georgianna Gilbeaux had 10 and five assists.
ABOUT SAVANNAH STATE
Savannah State enters the game having won five of its last six games and defeated Maryland Eastern Shore 59-58 on Monday night. Kenyata Hendrix tops the team in scoring (11.1 ppg), while Lauren Moss is right behind her at 10.8 per game. Tiyonda Davis is third in scoring (7.3 ppg) and leads the team in rebounding (9.0) and blocked shots (69).
LAST TIME VS. SAVANNAH STATE
Hampton won the first matchup with the Tigers 75-46 on January 9 as
Malia Tate-DeFreitas and Finney-Smith scored 20 points apiece and
Kaylah Lupoe added 14 and eight boards. The Lady Pirates forced 20 SSU turnovers and converted them into 30 points to take the win.
NEXT UP
Hampton will next tangle with South Carolina State on Feb. 6 at 5:30 pm. On Jan. 25, these teams met with Hampton winning 80-46.
NSU GAME TIME CHANGE
The final home game of the regular season for the Lady Pirates has been bumped back an hour on the start time as the Battle of the Bay with Norfolk State will now be a 6pm start on Feb. 27.
