Jermaine Marrow scored 20 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists as Hampton dropped a 96-60 decision at #15/14 Xavier on Monday night in their second game of the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic.
Hampton held a 10-6 lead following a
Trey Carver free throw with 16:03 left in the half, but saw Xavier go on a 12-2 run over the next nearly four minutes before a Sean O'Mara jumper put the hosts up 18-12 at the 12:19 mark.
The lead grew to 33-21 with 5:11 left in the half on a free throw by Paul Scruggs, though Hampton did respond with a flurry to trim it to 38-31 on a free throw from Marrow. Xavier used a 3-pointer from Paul Scruggs and a Naji Marshall layup to take a 43-31 lead into halftime. The lead was never less than 12 points in the second half.
Kalin Fisher was the other double figure scorer for Hampton with 12 points and four rebounds.  Trevon Bluiett paced five in double figures for Xavier with 21 points.
Hampton now faces Northern Arizona on Thanksgiving morning at 11am PST in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena.
