LEXINGTON, Va. – The Hampton University men's lacrosse team finished its inaugural varsity schedule on Saturday with a 25-4 loss at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington.
Hampton (0-5) broke through on the scoreboard nearly three minutes into the third quarter as
Darrel Kidd scored the first of his two goals on the day with 12:15 left in the third as the Pirates trailed 13-1. Almost two minutes later, Kidd took a feed from
Kendall Sapp and scored his second goal of the game as Hampton trailed 14-2.
With nearly seven minutes left in the third, Kidd switched roles and dished out an assist as
Leo Jackson, III took the pass and gave the Pirates its third goal of the day with 7:07 left in the stanza. Almost a minute later, Hampton closed out the scoring as
Alexander Hudson put one in the net as the Pirates trailed 17-4 with 6:12 left in the third period.
VMI (2-10) was topped by Jay Hill with four goals and three assists, while Wesley Sanders had three goals and two assists.
