LADY PIRATES VISIT WOLFPACK WEDNESDAY

 
HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University Lady Pirates continue their season-opening eight-game road trip by visiting historic Reynolds Coliseum to take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Wednesday night in a 7pm tip.
 
Hampton enters the game 0-2 after falling 84-51 at Iowa on Sunday afternoon, while the Wolfpack are 1-0 after defeating Wofford 80-40 on November 12.  This will be the first-ever matchup with North Carolina State.

The game will be broadcasted on WHOV 88.1 FM with Richie Summerville and Khari Thompson starting approximately at 6:45 pm.

TATE-DEFREITAS MOVING UP ON TWO LISTS
With her first two points in this game, senior Malia Tate-DeFreitas will become the Hampton University All-Time NCAA Division I scoring leader.  The senior from Harrisburg, Pa. currently has 1,966 points and is one point behind LaShondra Dixon-Gordon for the school Division I scoring mark.
 
She will also pass Dixon-Gordon on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Time scoring list to move into seventh with those two points.
 
DEFENSE AND DEFENSE
So far in two games, the Lady Pirates have forced 36 opponent turnovers while only committing 25 of their own to rank second in the MEAC in turnover margin at a +5.50.  Their 12.5 average turnovers are the lowest in the MEAC.
 
HAMPTON NATION…HYPHEN-NATION
Hampton's top two leading scorers are Malia Tate-DeFreitas and junior Monnazjea Finney-Smith who are ranked 11th and 12th respectively in the MEAC in scoring averaging 13.5 and 13.0 points per game.
 
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
N.C. State opened its season on Nov. 12 with an 80-40 win over Wofford.  Aislinn Konig scored 13 points, while Chelsea Nelson recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Dominique Wilson added 10 points.   They held Wofford to 25% shooting and out-rebounded them 53-33.
