WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Hampton University men's basketball team will wrap up the Nations of Coaches Classic this weekend at Trask Coliseum, taking on Wofford on Friday at 2 p.m. before squaring off against host UNC Wilmington on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Pirates (0-3), in their fourth season under head coach Edward Joyner Jr., are in search of their first win of the season after falling 75-67 at Ohio on Tuesday, despite 20 points and 12 rebounds from junior forward

Wofford (1-4) fell 64-58 at Richmond on Tuesday, while UNC Wilmington (1-3) fell 66-40 Purdue on the road on Wednesday for its third straight loss.
The Terriers were 19-14 overall last season, finishing tied for second in the SoCon South Divsion with a conference mark of 11-2. In returning all two starters and eight letterwinners from 2011-12, the Terriers were picked to finish fourth in the South Division of the Southern Conference this season, their 24th under head coach Mike Young.
Sophomore guard Karl Cochran is Wofford's leading scorer so far this season, averaging 17.6 points per game, while freshman guard Spencer Collins is pouring in 12.2 points per contest. Sophomore forward Lee Skinner is averaging 11.0 points per game to go along with a team-high 7.6 rebounds a night.
The Terriers are averaging 63.0 points a game on offense, while giving up just 66.2 points a night.
The Seahawks went 10-21 last season, finishing tied for eighth in the CAA with a mark of 5-13 in conference play. In returning three starters from last year's squad, UNC Wilmington was picked to finish 11th in the CAA this season, their third under head coach Buzz Peterson.
Senior forward Keith Rendleman is the team's leading scorer so far this season, the only Seahawk in double figures with 14.8 points per game to go along with a team-high 8.8 rebounds a contest. He's scored in double figures in all four games so far this season and had a double-double against Richmond.
The Seahawks are averaging just 53.0 points per game, while giving up 77.8 points a night.
Since moving up to Div. I in 1995, the Pirates have never faced either Wofford or UNC Wilmington.
Hampton is 1-6 all-time against teams currently in the SoCon. The Pirates are 0-1 against the College of Charleston; 0-1 against Davidson; 0-3 against UNC Greensboro; 0-1 against Samford; and 1-0 against The Citadel.
Hampton is 13-26 all-time against teams currently in the CAA – including 1-1 mark last season, when the Pirates defeated William & Mary 73-58 and fell to Delaware 68-64 in the ESPN BracketBusters game. Hampton is 1-4 against Delaware; 2-0 against Georgia State; 1-4 against George Mason; 0-2 against James Madison; 2-4 against Old Dominion; 1-2 against Towson; and 6-10 against William & Mary.
The Pirates went 1-13 on the road last season, with that lone win coming at Florida A&M, 74-59, on Feb. 25. For his career, head coach Ed Joyner is 15-29 on the road after Hampton's season-opening loss at William & Mary, a 68-58 loss at Richmond this past Thursday, and a 75-67 loss at Ohio on Tuesday. In 2010-11, when the Pirates won the MEAC Tournament championship, Hampton was 8-5 in true road contests.
The Pirates were 5-3 on neutral courts last season, splitting a pair of games in Cancun, Mexico on Nov. 22-23 (beating SIU-Edwardsville 68-64 and falling 78-71 to Sacred Heart) and defeating arch-rival Howard 71-53 in the Big Apple Classic at Madison Square Garden. The Pirates also split a pair of games in the Dr. Pepper Classic on Dec. 29-30, falling 42-40 to Utah Valley before beating Longwood 82-79, before winning two of their three games in the MEAC Tournament.
