LADY PIRATES LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK AT BOSTON COLLEGE

Game Notes

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. –
The Hampton University women's basketball team will look to get back into the win column on Thursday, when the Lady Pirates visit the Silvio O. Conte Forum to take on Boston College at 12 p.m.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Hampton and Boston College.

Hampton (7-2) had its five-game winning streak snapped on Monday, falling 43-38 at UAB, despite 13 points from senior guard Jericka Jenkins (Lancaster, Texas) and another 10 points from senior forward Melanie Warner (Tallahassee, Fla.).

The Lady Pirates have not lost back-to-back games since a four-game losing streak from Nov. 15-27 of last season.

The Eagles (4-6) snapped a two-game skid on Sunday with a 67-58 home win over Holy Cross. Sophomores Katie Zenevitch and Tiffany Ruffin each had 17 points to lead Boston College, while junior Kerri Shields added 11 points and sophomore Shayra Brown scored 10.

The Eagles went 20-13 overall last season, while finishing seventh with a 5-9 mark in the ACC and advancing to the fourth round of the WNIT. Boston College, under fourth-year head coach Sylvia Crawley, returns two starters and seven letterwinners, and was picked to finish ninth in the ACC this season.

Zenevitch is the lone Eagle in double figures so far this season, averaging a team-high 10.0 points per game, while also pulling down 6.6 rebounds a contest. Korina Chapman is the team's top rebounder with 8.0 boards a night.

Boston College is averaging just 61.2 points a night on offense, while giving up 62.5 points a contest.

The Lady Pirates are 1-11 all-time against teams in the ACC – going 0-4 against Duke; 0-1 against Georgia Tech; 1-1 against Maryland; 0-1 against North Carolina; 0-2 against Virginia; and 0-2 against Wake Forest. Hampton has never faced Clemson, Florida State or N.C. State.

The Lady Pirates faced Miami (Fla.) and Virginia Tech when both schools were still in the Big East.

Under head coach David Six, the Lady Pirates are a combined 21-12 in road games over the past two-plus seasons — including a 60-37 win at Pitt, a 68-55 win at Jacksonville, a 79-62 win at IPFW and a 66-39 win at Chicago State.

Hampton went 11-4 on the road last season, including a stretch in which Hampton won five straight road games. Hampton went 6-6 on the road in 2009-10, Six's first season at the helm.
