GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Lady Pirates put a up a fight, but fell short in an overtime loss to North Carolina A&T, 81-72 in the Corbitt Sports Arena on Monday.
The first half was controlled by the Lady Aggies, as they scored 44 points, 20 of which came from Brittany Taylor-James in the first half.
The Lady Pirates had three players in double digits, led by Sharella Leslie (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 16 points off the bench. Leslie was also perfect from the free throw line, making all six.
Senior Ashlee Finley (Harrisburg, Pa.) had 10 points. Quanneisha Perry (Decatur, Ga.) had another double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds.
Hampton (13-14, 9-6 MEAC) had a serious comeback, scoring 40 points in the second half while holding the Lady Aggies to 22 points. The Lady Pirates were 87.5 percent from the free throw line, with North Carolina A&T going 74.4 percent from the line.
The Lady Aggies celebrated Senior Day as Taylor-James dropped 31 in her last home game. Teammate Jaleesa Sams had 19 points in the win.
