HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 29, 2026) … The Hampton University women's soccer team begins a two-match run against teams from the Palmetto State as they visit South Carolina State for a 1 p.m. kick at Oliver Dawson Stadium. Live stats will be available at the link above.
ABOUT HAMPTON
- The Pirates dropped a 3-1 decision to Towson on Sunday afternoon at Powhatan Field.
- In a flip of the goal scored against Drexel on Thursday, Â Anneli Donnath put one in the back of the net off a feed from Nylah Jennings at 71:12 to trim the deficit to 2-1. Jennings scored off a Donath pass for the lone tally against the Dragons.
- Jennings leads the team in scoring with two goal and three assists for seven points, while Donath joins Caitlyn Peace and Jayda Sutton with a goal each.
- Hampton played its first match in program history against a Power Four school to open the season in a 2-1 loss at Indiana on Aug. 12.
ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
- The Bulldogs lost their last match on Sept. 26 against Southern Wesleyan falling 2-1 as Aaliyah Silver scored off a pass from Ava Philyaw 85 seconds before halftime.
- Silver and Emmi Sullivan have scored goals so far this season for South Carolina State, while Liya Ferguson and Philyaw have assisted on goals this year.
- Through 11 matches, the Bulldogs have been outscored 41-2 and have a shot differential of 224-59.
- This is the third match of the year for South Carolina State against a CAA member as they've lost to Elon (6-0) and Charleston (4-0).
Makayla Wade, Taryn Goodwin and Nylah Jennings each scored goals as the Pirates defeated South Carolina State 3-1 on Sept. 13, 2025 at Powhatan Field. Wade put the Pirates on the board two minutes into the contest and Goodwin took a feed from Jennings for a 2-1 lead at 44:05. Jennings received a long pass from Keri Geter and found the back of the net at 78:11.
JENNINGS MOVING UP CAREER CHARTS
With her two goals this season, Nylah Jennings has moved into a tie for second place on the all-time goals scored with nine. She is tied with Michelle Zilberman who scored nine in 2017. The all-time leader is Sydney Jackson with 12 from 2015-18.
NEW LOOKS – BIG 10, AMERICAN and ATLANTIC 10
Hampton's opening week slate put the Pirates in a new spot with first-ever matchups against a Big 10 member and an American Conference member. The season-opening Indiana contest was also the first time the Pirates faced a Power Four opponent in program history. The Pirates also faced American Athletic Conference member Temple and Atlantic 10 member George Mason on Sept. 13 for the first match against either conference.
HOOSIER HIGHLIGHTS
Caitlyn Peace and Nylah Jennings, two of the leading scorers from last season, were joined by newcomer Sierra Bartley for the lone Hampton tally against Indiana on Aug. 12. Jennings and Bartley assisted Peace who found the back of the net in the 71st minute in the 2-1 loss to the Hoosiers.
PIRATE POINT LEADERS
Through 10 matches, Nylah Jennings leads with seven points including two goals and a team-best three assists. Anneli Donati, Caitlyn Peace and Jayda Sutton have the other goals, while Donath and Sierra Bartley have one assist to trail Jennings in that category.
NEXT UP
Hampton starts the month of October hosting College of Charleston at 1 p.m. at Powhatan Field in Norfolk on Oct. 3.
