Pirates Look To Cage Dragons In Thursday Soccer Matinee

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 23, 2026) … The Hampton University women's soccer team continues a three-match CAA homestand on Thursday afternoon hosting at Powhatan Field in Norfolk at noon.

Annie Clapp scored one goal and assisted on the other as homestanding Drexel defeated Hampton 2-0 in CAA Women's Soccer action at Vidas Field in Philadelphia on Sept. 21, 2025. The Dragons held a 19-8 advantage in shots and 4-2 margin in corner kicks.
NEW LOOKS – BIG 10, AMERICAN and ATLANTIC 10
Hampton's opening week slate puts the Pirates in a new spot with first-ever matchups against a Big 10 member and an American Conference member. The season-opening Indiana contest was also the first time the Pirates faced a Power Four opponent in program history. The Pirates also faced American Athletic Conference member Temple and Atlantic 10 member George Mason on Sept. 13 for the first match against either conference.
HOOSIER HIGHLIGHTS
Caitlyn Peace and Nylah Jennings, two of the leading scorers from last season, were joined by newcomer Sierra Bartley for the lone Hampton tally against Indiana on Aug. 12. Jennings and Bartley assisted Peace who found the back of the net in the 71st minute in the 2-1 loss to the Hoosiers.
PIRATE POINT LEADERS
Through eight games, Nylah Jennings leads with four points including a goal and a team-best two assists. Caitlyn Peace and Jayda Sutton have the other goals, while Sierra Bartley has one assist to trail Jennings in that category.
NON-CONFERENCE UPDATE
Through seven matches, Hampton's non-conference opponents to date now sport a 24-25-11 record with Temple (7-2), USC Upstate and George Mason (4-2-3) leading the way.

Hampton returns back to Powhatan Field on Sept. 27 entertaining Towson at 1 p.m.

- The Pirates fell to South Division leading UNCW 6-0 on Sunday in the first game of a three-game homestand.
- Nylah Jennings leads the team in scoring with a goal and two assists for four points, while Caitlyn Peace and Jayda Sutton have a goal each.
- Hampton played its first match in program history against a Power Four school to open the season in a 2-1 loss at Indiana on Aug. 12.
- Coming off a 5-12-1 season in 2025, Hampton returned 13 players for first-year head coach Sam Cain.Â
ABOUT DREXEL (4-4-1, 0-1-0)
- The Dragons began conference play on Sunday as they fell 3-0 to Northeastern at home.
- Drexel had won three matches in a row defeating NJIT, Lehigh and Lafayette all by 2-1 scores before falling to Delaware (3-1) and Northeastern.
- Through nine matches, Drexel has outscored its opposition 15-14.
- Liv Brocious leads the Dragons with four goals and an assist for nine points, while Nia Chinapoo is next with two goals and a team-leading four assists for eight points. Makenzie McCready is right behind them with three goals and one assist for seven points.
- In goal, Gracie Sullivan leads the Dragons with a 1.65 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.
