
Hampton Drop Road Contest at Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, NY. (Sept. 18, 2026) … The Hampton University volleyball team dropped a CAA match Saturday to Hofstra 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-21).Â
Hofstra used their momentum from Friday's match, racing out to a 5-1 lead in set one. After an attack error, Racquel Frazier settled the Pirates in with a service ace, to draw the score within two at 5-3. The two sides then traded points, with Hofstra holding a 15-12 lead. The Pride used a late 5-0 run to take set one 25-16.Â
Frazier and Nikola Jaroszewicz got the scoring started for Hampton in the second set, while Hofstra held an early 3-2 lead. The Pride ripped off a 5-0 run to take a 12-5 lead, but the Pirates quickly responded. Frazier started the spurt with a kill, followed by a few Pride errors, before Ana Luiza Caminah Matos registered a service ace to bring the score within three at 12-9. Hampton added another 4-0 run after a Pride point to tie the set at 13-13. The two sides then traded 4-0 runs, as they were tied at 18 let in the set. Hofstra outscore Hampton 7-5 to take set two, 25-23.Â
The Pride held a four point lead midway through set three, 13-9, but the Pirates wouldn't go away. After a service error, Jaroszewicz and Frazier recorded back-to-back point to bring the score within two at 15-13. Afonso Maria stopped the Pirate run, as Hofstra rattled off three straight points to take a commanding 18-13 lead. The Pride then closed the set out, taking down the Pirates 25-21.Â
Frazier had 14 kills and three aces for Hampton (2-9, 0-2) who returns to the Convocation Center on Thursday, Sept. 24 when they host Elon at 6:00 p.m.Â
