Hampton Opens Play in HBCU Championships Thursday

HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 16, 2026) … The Hampton University women's tennis team travels to South Fulton, Ga. Friday morning when they are set to participate in the HBCU Championships.

The women's division consists of 14 teams in Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Albany State, Alcorn State, Bethune-Cookman, Edward Waters, Florida A&M, Grambling State, Hampton, Howard, Jackson State, Norfolk State, Tuskegee and Xavier University of Louisiana.

Samira Khazieva and Masa Mitic led the Pirates in doubles a weekend ago in the CNU Duals posting a record of 2-0 over Christopher Newport and Longwood.

The tournament will begin Thursday when doubles begins at 9:30 a.m., and will conclude Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. when the trophy presentation begins.
