Women's Tennis Competes In HBCU Championships

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. (Sept. 21, 2026) … The Hampton University women's tennis team competed in the HBCU Championships over the weekend at the South Fulton Tennis Center. Hampton finished eighth in the team rankings.Â
After a bye in the round of 32, Toffee Ghorab won her round of 16 match 5-7, 6-3, 10-3, before falling in the quarterfinals. Samira Khazieva was the other Pirate to win a match in the round of 32, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-2.Â
The duo of Masa Mitic and Samira Khazieva put together an impressive doubles run, making it to the final four before falling 6-7. After a bye in the round of 32, they won their round of 16 match 6-4 and quarterfinals match 6-4 to make it in the final four.Â
The Pirates return to action Friday, Oct. 2 when they travel to Richmond, Va. to compete in the River City Open.Â
