HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 12, 2026) … After seeing Mother Nature wipe out three of the four season opening weekend games for the Hampton University softball team, the Pirates head south to Covington, Ga. for the HBCU Leonard Moody Invitational.
Hampton (0-1) faces UMES (0-0) on Friday at 10 a.m. and then South Carolina State (0-0) at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, they will face Florida A&M (1-4) at 12:15 p.m. and Texas Southern (3-2) at 2:30 p.m. They'll end the tournament facing N.C. Central (0-5) at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Hampton lost its lone contest on opening weekend in an 11-9 slugfest with Bowling Green State in the 1868 Classic.
Kylee Quinn and
Riley Bohanon each went 2-for-4, while
Camryn Hamilton was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs in the game.
The Pirates participated in this tournament for the first time last season when they went 2-1. Hampton lost 3-2 to Jackson State and then defeated Alcorn State (1-0) and Grambling State (15-6). Mother Nature wiped out the last two scheduled games.
Hampton will return to the home field over the February 20-22 weekend for the Battle of the Bay Tournament when they'll face Saint Francis, Quinnipiac, and Maine for a five-game weekend.
