JENNINGS MOVING UP CAREER CHARTS
With her two goals this season, Nylah Jennings has moved into a tie for second place on the all-time goals scored with nine. She is tied with Michelle Zilberman who scored nine in 2017. The all-time leader is Sydney Jackson with 12 from 2015-18.
RECORD SETTING BEAT THE BUZZER
Jayda Sutton's blast with five seconds left against South Carolina State on Sept. 30 was the latest in a game that a Pirate has scored in the history of the program. Prior to Sutton's tally, the latest game-winner in Hampton history was in 2017 by Sydney Jackson at 84:24 in a 2-1 win over Mount Olive on Sept. 19, 2017.
LATEST NATIONALLY
According to research, Sutton's buzzer-beater at South Carolina State appears to be the third latest a game-winning goal has been scored in an NCAA Division I women's soccer match this season. UConn defeated Boston University 2-1 on Aug. 23 with a goal as time expired and Michigan State scored with four seconds left to tie Notre Dame 2-2 on Sept. 3.
NEW LOOKS – BIG 10, AMERICAN and ATLANTIC 10
Hampton's opening week slate put the Pirates in a new spot with first-ever matchups against a Big 10 member and an American Conference member. The season-opening Indiana contest was also the first time the Pirates faced a Power Four opponent in program history. The Pirates also faced American Athletic Conference member Temple and Atlantic 10 member George Mason on Sept. 13 for the first match against either conference.
HOOSIER HIGHLIGHTS
Caitlyn Peace and Nylah Jennings, two of the leading scorers from last season, were joined by newcomer Sierra Bartley for the lone Hampton tally against Indiana on Aug. 12. Jennings and Bartley assisted Peace who found the back of the net in the 71st minute in the 2-1 loss to the Hoosiers.
