Game Recap: Volleyball |

Frazier lifts Hampton to first win of season, Pirates fall in night cap

NEWARK, De. (Sept. 6, 2025) … The Hampton University volleyball team picked up their first win in the Ronaldo Pacheco era Saturday morning when they took down Le Moyne in five sets. The Pirates were powered by freshman Racquel Frazier's single-game record, 34 kills earning their first win of the 2025 campaign.

In the nightcap, the host Delaware took down the Pirates in three sets to round out the tournament for Hampton University.

Match 1 - Hampton 3, Le Moyne 2 (14-25, 25-7, 23-25, 25-22, 17-15)
The Dolphins jumped out to an early lead in set one and continued that momentum to take the first set. In set two, the Pirates exploded. After an early 1-0 lead for Le Moyne, Hampton put together a 17-0 run to take full control of the second set. Frazier dominated that stretch pounding eight kills to help the Pirates even the score at one.

Set three saw both teams exchange points, but the Dolphins pulled away late with a 5-0 run to close out the set taking the lead through three. In set four, each team exchanged points early, before Frazier and Katerina Pappa deposited back-to-back kills to help the Pirates force a decisive set five.

Le Moyne jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the fifth set, but Hampton quickly responded with a 5-0 run of their own thanks once more to Frazier and Pappa. Following a back and forth exchange, it was Frazier once more lifting the Pirates, this time to their first win of the 2025 season. The freshman pounded back-to-back kills to help Hampton take set five 17-15. Frazier's 34 kills is good for first all-time in school history for kills in a five match set, and second in any match. Sophomore Morgan Warren added 53 assists on the match, which places her tied for fourth all-time in assists in a five set match.

This marks the first win in the Ronaldo Pacheco era at Hampton University.

Match 2 - Delaware 3, Hampton 0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-19)
The Pirates continued their momentum early into the nightcap with the host Delaware, as Hampton held an early 5-4 lead following an attack error on the Blue Hens. Following the error, Delaware used a 14-4 run to quickly take control of set one.

The Blue Hens continued their strong finish in the first set into the second, taking a 2-0 lead. Gabriella Prather posted two kills in the second frame to lead the Pirates. Set three saw the Pirates jump out to an early 6-2 lead courtesy of kills by Morgan Warren and Jaya Rimm. The Blue Hens then settled in, going on a 7-2 run to take down the Pirates in three sets 25-11, 25-12. 25-19. Frazier led the Pirates with nine kills, while Warren recorded 17 assists.

Frazier was named to the All-Tournament Team following the Pirates three matches.
