ELON, N.C. (Sept. 19, 2025) … The Hampton University volleyball team fell in its conference opener Friday night to Elon 3-0. The Pirates and Phoenix traded blows early in each of the first two sets, but it was Elon putting together multiple runs to pull away from Hampton to take match one.
In the first set, Hampton got on the board when Racquel Fraizier buried a kill from
Morgan Warren to tie the score at one.
Katerina Pappa then went on a run of her own, recording three kills in a row for the Pirates to help keep Hampton knotted early with Elon. The Phoenix responded with multiple 3-0 runs of their own throughout the first frame to take set one.
In the second set, Elon jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Hampton quickly responded when Pappa hammered home a kill, and Frazier added two aces to take a 4-3 lead. The two traded blows throughout the remainder of the set, but it was Elon going on a 6-0 run late to effectively take set two. Elon was able to take that momentum into the third set, and eventually took down Hampton 3-0.
The Pirates were led by Pappa and Frazier's eight kills, while Warren added 18 assists. Frazier led Hampton in digs with eight, as
Maria Clara Andrade and
Lillian Campbell added four a piece.
