RICHMOND, Va. (April 30, 2025) … The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) announced its 2025 All-Conference honors on Wednesday and Hampton University will have two players recognized in the vote of the league's head coaches.
Zion Garcia was selected to the All-CAA second team defense and
Alex Lacey was named to the All-Rookie team as a defender. These two are the first Pirates to earn post-season honors in program history.
Garcia, a native of Orlando, Florida, played in all 15 games this season and started 12 of those. He recorded an assist against Mercyhurst on March 2 and scored a goal against then 16
th-ranked Fairfield on March 15. Garcia had team-highs in ground balls (27) and caused turnovers (18) with his caused turnovers ranked fifth on the Hampton single-season list.
His average of 1.2 caused turnovers per game ranks him seventh in the CAA. Garcia had four ground balls against Queens (N.C.) on March 18 and three caused turnovers each against Mercyhurst and Detroit Mercy on March 2 and 7 respectively.
Lacey, who hails from Brookeville, Maryland, played in all 15 games where he started his collegiate career with two ground balls and two caused turnovers against Mercer on February 1. On the season he was third in ground balls with 23, topped by four against Queens (N.C.), while he had three caused turnovers against Mercyhurst and Detroit Mercy in consecutive games.
