WASHINGTON D.C. (September 7, 2024) – The Lady Pirates dropped their two matches this afternoon in McDonough Arena in Washington D.C.
North Texas won the first match 3-0 with the sets ending 25-11, 25-11, and 25-9. Georgetown narrowly took the first set and defeated the Lady Pirates 3-0 in the second match (27-25, 25-7, 25-19).
First Match
Cortni Adams led Hampton in kills with four, followed by teammates
Madison Clark and
Morgan Warren with three each. Warren also posted the most assists with three.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Kylah Hunter notched four digs and
Maria Clara De Andrade and Warren earned three.
Hampton and North Texas battled at the beginning of the first set with the score tied at three. The Mean Green took the next four points and did not budge (25-11). Hampton was unable to find rhythm in the second and third set, as they ended 25-11 and 25-9.
Second Match
Adams led the Lady Pirates in kills with six. Clark posted four and
Ada Bulgur had three. Warren recorded a career-high 16 assists and
Maria Clara De Andrade notched two aces.
Two Lady Pirates earned double-digit digs, Hunter with 13 and De Andrade a career-high 10. De Andrade had the only block for Hampton.
The first set went back and forth throughout its entirety. Hampton trailed at 18-16 but went on a 4-0 run to lead 20-18. The Lady Pirates had two set-points, but the Hoyas snatched the set at 27-25. Set two did not go the Pirates way. Georgetown started with a 3-0 advantage and maintained it the rest of the set (25-7). In the final set, the Hoyas jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but Hampton rallied to go ahead 9-8. The Lady Pirates were up 11-9 when Georgetown took five out of the next six and controlled the remainder of the set (25-19).

The Lady Pirates will compete at the Henson Hawk Invitational next weekend in Princess Anne, Md. They will battle against UNC Asheville, Iona, and UMES.
