Hampton Lacrosse Hosts Fairfield on Senior Day

HAMPTON, Va. (April 26, 2024) … The Pirates return home to Armstrong Stadium for the final home game of the 2024 regular season. Hampton's matchup against Fairfield will be senior day. The Pirates and the Stags will face off tomorrow at noon. After Saturday's contest, there will be a free youth clinic. Children who are in grades eight and under can sign up in the link below.Â

The Pirates are coming off a 5-21 loss to the Hofstra Pride. Andre Myers scored a season-high three goals against Hofstra. The Frederick, Md. native's, three goals would tie a career-high for Myers. Meite Mamadou also had a solid game for Hampton. Mamadou finished the contest with a goal and an assist.Â
So Far This Season
The Pirate's leading scorer during the 2024 campaign has been Darius Stanley with 10 goals. Stanley has scored in over 50 percent of Hampton's games played. HU has been one of the better teams in the CAA at causing turnovers. On average, the Pirates are forcing 7.5 turnovers per contest which is the fourth most in the conference. Hampton also is fourth in the nation for saves per game averaging 14.5 per contest.
Scouting the Stags
Fairfield enters Saturday's contest with an overall record of 7-6 and is 4-2 in conference play. Two of the Stag's losses have been decided by two or fewer goals. Fairfield is coached by Andrew Baxter who is completing his fifth season with the program. Under Baxter, the Stags have had two seasons with seven or more wins.Â
Fairfield has one of the best clearing percentages in the nation with a 92.1 percent. The Stags are also one of the better defensive teams in the league. On average Coach Baxter's squad is causing 10.4 turnovers per game which is the sixth most in the country. Julian Radossich is causing two turnovers per contest ranking him first in the CAA. Bryce Ford has been the Stag's top goal scorer with 34 goals.Â
