Lady Pirates Host Delaware In FInal Home Stint of the Season

HAMPTON, Va. (Nov. 8, 2024) … Hampton University women's volleyball team returns to Holland Hall to host Delaware in the final home stint of the 2024 season. The first match against the Blue Hens is set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 4:00 p.m. with the series coming to an end on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's contest will also be senior day for the Lady Pirates. Hampton has previously faced Delaware twice and fell in both contests. 

In its last time out Hampton fell to Charleston in both matches 3-0. During both matches Madison Clark led the Lady Pirates offensively finishing the series with 21 kills. Since the start of conference play, Clark leads Hampton on the offensive end. The Hampton, Va. native, in 14 CAA matches has tallied 119 kills. 

Maria Clara De Andrade also a solid performance for the Lady Pirates in the series against Charleston. During the first match, the Parana, Brazil native, produced a career-high 17 digs. Her 17 digs made it the third consecutive match that De Andrade recorded double digit digs. The freshman currently sits fourth on the team for digs tallying 96. 

Delaware is coached by Kim Lambert is in her third season at the helm. The Blue Hens have qualified for the conference tournament with a 15-6 overall record and are 11-3 in the conference. Coach Lambert's squad currently sits tied for first place in the league standings. In their last time out the blue Hens defeated Stony Book 3-0. The victory over the Seawolves made it six straight for Delaware which is the longest active streak in the CAA. 

The Blue Hen's are averaging the third most kills per set (13.1) in the conference. Lily Rogers has been crucial to Delaware's offense. The St. Louis, Mo. native, sits third in the CAA and 64th in the country for assists with 831. During conference play Rogers had a season high 57 assists against Hofstra. The graduate senior also ranks first in the league for assists per set (10.3).
