TOWSON, Md. (Oct. 19, 2024) … The Lady Pirates resumed conference play this evening against the Towson Tigers. Towson defeated Hampton by a score of 3-0. The sets ended 25-12, 25-13, and 25-15.
The Tigers jumped out to an early advantage in the first frame beginning the match on a 12-2 run. Hampton would take three straight points with
Madison Clark and
Brooklynn Patterson recording kills. The Lady Pirates could not overcome the early deficit. Coach Ronaldo Pacheco's side won five of the final seven points. Towson secured the set after the 24-12 mark.
Hampton kept the second set within striking distance in the opening moments. The Lady Pirates brought it within one point after a service ace by
Dila Derendeli. Towson once again produced a dominant run taking six straight points. While a service error by the Tigers ended the stretch, Hampton could not manufacture a run of their own.
In the third set, the Lady Pirates tied the Tigers early on in the third set. Patterson was able to provide offense at the beginning of the frame for Hampton. The Bowie, Md. native finished the match with four kills and an ace. Towards the end of the stanza the Lady Pirates tallied three consecutive points. However, the Towson responded with a 3-0 run taking the set and the match.
The Lady Pirates complete the two-game series with Towson tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. Sunday's match will also be streamed on FloSports.
